About 1 year ago from now, Dev tried out to sing the National Anthem at The Dixie Roundup Rodeo, and she won. She did so awesome! I videoed it while crying and when we got home we were watching it and my 3 yr old DELETED it! I cried for days!! Well this year she tried out again, and won AGAIN!! That means I have the chance to TOTALLY REDEEM myself and catch that special moment again!! I am so proud of her. She had to write a paragraph both years on why she would want to sing the National Anthem. They said that is a huge indicator on the winner. She wrote That she loves how she feels when she sings it. And that she loves living in America and being free. I wish I had a copy! (the judges kept it, I probably could have asked for it, had it crossed my mind). So...come out and see her sing her little heart out at the Dixie Roundup Rodeo on September 16th. It's the first night of the rodeo.

Chicken Little

We recently moved up the road about a mile..into the country! We are in the same ward, but it feels like a whole new world. It's exciting. Our redneck dreams are coming true. We are able to have animals and we decided to start out with chickens. The little chicks started out living in our office then out to the garage for about 6 weeks. Joe and Dex spent the last couple Saturday's building an awesome chicken coop, which I am quite impressed with!! I do have pictures of them building it, but these ones were funner to edit, so here are the kids helping the chickens get used to their new home.

We are loving the warm weather!! I love to just sit outside and feel the sun kiss my face! And the smell of the fresh air... and the grass...awwhh! (I am enjoying them now, because in a few months, I will be allergic to the whole outdoors!)Anyway here is how our March has started out...
Devyn has started soccer. She practices twice a week, and her league is pretty intense. Dex tried out for baseball to be in the “major league” and he nailed it! He drove both pitches out to right field..very impressive. Kamryn and Maggie are great spectators and love to cheer for their siblings, until of course they find the playground, then the rest is history.

The most popular song ever, in our car, is hands down "22 Hours" by Due West. Maggie has caught on to the excitement of it. She will sing it loud then when it's over she says, "again"! So cute! So just her and I were in the car ( a rare occasion, I know) and I was blasting that song. I kept looking in the rear view to see her reaction, and she just gave me this look, that was saying, "Mom, I am tired, leave me alone! At the next stop light I snagged a photo, and when I looked again, she was OUT!

At MY Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!

In the Spring of 2009, Joe had just got a new job. He had some training meetings up in SLC. At the time we only had one car. B, our friend with downs syndrome, lived with us. He had been having issues that day. He was threatening to run away, so I slept in the living room on the couch to monitor the door. As he got up twice to leave the house, I was awake enough to catch him both times. Unrelated... at about 4 in the morning, Kamryn starting crying like she was hurt, so I run to see what was the matter and she had fallen off the bed. When I picked her up, her head was bleeding like crazy...mind you I didn't have a car! ...so, I cleaned it up and wrapped this bandage around her head. I called my sister, bless her heart, at 4 am! She told me she would come get us if I thought it were bad enough. She mostly just comforted me. So of course I couldn't go back to sleep as I worried about her.
So with my lack of sleep, Dexter,9 years old, was also very concerned. He offered to stay home from school to help me. What a sweet heart. The day went pretty good, I kept a close eye on Kam all day, but as you can see in the picture, she was totally fine!

When B got home from work, and was all worked up... I went to his room to console him, then I hear another crash and crying...I go in and Kam has fallen off a stool now and has a HUGE shiner on her eye...I was at my ropes end! I was so grateful Dex had stayed home, so he could watch the baby!! I grabbed her and ran to my neighbors house, whose husband is a doctor, who must have totally thought I was nuts...I was bawling and didn't know what to do..She told me to watch for throwing up and other signs of concussion...feeling much better, I go home to find...B, GONE!! He ran away..I had no car! So I hoof it, and it wasn't far, but I could not convince him to come home. He had a bad day at work, and wouldn't let it go...about an hour sitting next to him on the curb. I finally got him to walk home with me!
And that my friends, was my Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad day! Not a day I like to remember, but definitely a day I will never forget!

Sing Star

As some of you already know,my 8 yr old girl had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Dixie Round Up Rodeo, which is one of the biggest, no I think it is the biggest event in St. George, 75 years running! I heard an add on the radio that the Lions Club would be having auditions for this. I asked her if she wanted to, and she said yes, so I taught her the song, she practiced, and the next day she auditioned and won! We were all surprised, and happy! Then one month later, was the rodeo. It was the opening night of the 3 day event. She was so brave that night! They had quite the production. Military tanks and men, tons of kids with flags and horses and a big giant flag, then out walks little D. She looked so small, but she belted out that song, flawless! I was so proud of her. I had tears rolling down my cheeks behind the camcorder I was holding! ( when we got home my 3 year old erased the video, so I had tears rolling down my cheeks for 2 days!!) Then about 1 week later, her elementary school asked her to sing it again during an assembly ( I did record this too..and still have it! ) That evening our neighbors invited us over for their daughters birthday party. We later played a game on their play station, called "Sing Star". It is like a Karaoke game. It was fun! My daughter when we got home said, Mom, I sang in front of hundreds of people at the rodeo, and you can't even sing in front of the neighbors! Boy did she hit that right on the head! I sang alright, but no one could hear me!! I sing in the privacy of my own home, thank you very much. I LOVE to sing, but it is SCARY! I am amazed at the bravery and confidence that my daughter has! NICE JOB DEV!!

I can make up all sorts of excuses, but the fact is, I am not good at keeping up to date on my blog! It is a goal of mine to stay caught up..for me! I really do love the idea of the blog, and I love reading all of yours!
Here goes..The Beginning of our Labor Day Weekend 2009! We went swimming at Sand Hollow on Friday. Saturday we went to a parade in Hurricane for Peach Days.. Joe was in the parade for his work, Zions Way. We had Navajo Taco's!! Yum! My favorite~ Sunday after church, Joe made a fabulous Mexican fajita meal! The best I have ever had, actually. Then after my Sunday nap, the kids and I made squeeze Fudge. It is 1/2 bag of powdered sugar, 1 stick of butter, 1/3 c of cream cheese, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1 tsp vanilla..put it all in a zip lock bag and pass the bag around for everyone to squeeze for about 20 minutes, or until it's done! It was surprisingly pretty tasty! Then after we ate the fudge, us girls gave ourselves a pedicure!

I figured you are tired of looking at "Ketchup" so I decided I would "Catch up" !!

Hmmm...it's kind of interesting that I haven't blogged since we got the dog, eh? He is a piece of work. He definitely likes to bark! But, he is not the only reason I haven't posted anything! What a...life!? We have moved AGAIN! My dad has joined my mom in Tennessee :). So, we are renting their home from them...it's a way nice home with a yard! Yay! and lots of kids in the neighborhood. The kids switched schools, and have adjusted really well. Any way, besides taking care of the dog, all the packing and unpacking, and taking care of the kids, it's always a challenge keeping up on all the every day chores. ...Heaps of laundry and my fridge...I had 4 open bottles of ketchup! Every time I opened the fridge, I would sigh! I really didn't want to waste the ketchup but it was really bugging me because they were taking up so much room...then it dawned on me...mix them all together. DuH!

Old School!

As we were sitting down to eat Breakfast, Dex told Dev, "You look like you are dressed from the Old School!" I asked him why, and he said because her collar is over her sweater. Then I asked him how he dresses. He said, " I dress from the New School." So, I said, well how do I dress? He hesitated and said, "uuhh, you dress from the NO SCHOOL!" Ha Ha... kids!

Also, we got a dog today! He is a mini pincher. Grandma Harding got a shi tzu and ever since then my kids have been wanting a dog so bad. We looked on Craig's List and found this one for free! So far it is a good dog...we will see!

America The Beautiful

Last night for family night, Dexter was in charge of the song. He chose to sing "America The Beautiful"
I thought, how appropriate for Election Day! Then as we were having our morning scripture study as a family, the chapter we are on happens to be Alma 46...In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children- ...and he called it the title of liberty and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land."
Alma 48:17 " Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever' yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.

How neat that we could teach our children these principles today of all days!

Halloween!

My plan was to do the Wizard of Oz! I love when people do themes! Devyn was so excited to be Dorothy! My mother in-law gave Kam a fairy costume that was perfect for a Glinda the good witch! Dex didn't want anything to do with it! He wanted to be something scary! So, I gave in. Maggie was still going to be a lion or scare crow, then I AM the wicked witch of the west, so I was going to dress the part! Anyway, things didn't happen that way. My mother in-law also gave Dex some money to buy a costume, and I decided to save money and use a costume I had for the baby. I dressed as a cowgirl and she was a horse, at our ward party, which was the day before Halloween. Then on Halloween, I was so busy, and so hot! I was sick and Maggie was sick, so I decided not to dress up, and Maggie wore the outfit we brought back from China a couple of years ago...so cute!!

6 months

I just wanted to post about my baby Magdalyn Emma. She is 6 1/2 months old. She rolled over at 4 months, then started army crawling a week later. She could sit up at 5 months and she is now trying to pull her self up to things. I think she is a little early doing these things, but I think it is all out of self defense! You should see how Kam tries to handle her. She has to try to get away as quick as she can!!

The other day, the kids were watching "Ice Age" and after the part where Sid says, "Human's are disgusting!", Dex told Kam that she is a human. She did not like that! She came to me crying and said, "Dexter said I am a guy, and I not I just a baby!" Then she kept saying, "I not a human!" :) I love her age! She is so funny!

Kamryn has the cutest curls! Devyn straightens her hair sometimes, so Kamryn asked me if I would "scratch out" her hair! Then she said, " I want to look like Oaklee." Oaklee is Davi's little girl (see her blog.) So once in a while I will scratch out Kam's hair to look like Oaklee!

So my mom's dog Cleo got hit by a car last week, and was put to sleep. Very sad! she just got a new puppy, Delilah. She is a way cute golden retriever. Anyway, Kam saw the temple today, and she said, "Mom, Cleo is at the Temple with Jesus." Oh! I thought that was so sweet!!

I never finished my post the other night!
Since I live down here with a few of my siblings, we decided to do a little preschool with all of our kids. We do a little reading, a little activity, a little music, and of course my favorite, a little snack! Ha, ha!! I love the look on Karter's face in this picture! He looks so eager to learn! I changed the color on it just for fun. Oh...if you are wondering what "Reaching Success" is, it is the name of my AMAZING moms tutoring business. It is actually Reaching Success Learning Center. I thought I would go and practice my photography skills today. It was fun. Maybe someday I will be as good as my sister Davi at Highlite photography, and my cousin Erika who has Yellow Pear Photography. I am workin' on it guys!

Maggie and Irylend are 16 days apart. Irylend is my brother Zach's little girl. They got blessed a day apart. We would have done it the same day, but we decided to bless Maggie on saturday at Dexter's baptism. Maggie just turned 4 months old today, and of course Irylend will turn 4 months in 16 days. Anyway, I think this age is tough to take pictures of. They are so squirmy. Well at least my child is!

Back To School

Well today the kids went back to school! I am SO ready! Dev is in 2nd and Dex is in 3rd. I didn't get pics of them before school, but I snapped a few of them coming home from the bus stop:) short cut and all! "Ryn" (that is what Kam named herself and it has kind of stuck) kept me on my toes today! She decided to get herself some cereal while I was feeding Maggie.

Well, we now have B living with us again! We took him to Idaho with us, he didn't want me to take his picture. The kids went golfing with Joe and his dad. Dex has been playing a lot in St. George. This is a tournament he played the other day. He got 8th place in his division! Pretty good for his first year.

We went to Richfield, Utah for the 4th of July. We went to the parade. Chevia was in the parade because she is 1st runner up to Miss Teen Sevier. Davi and Cody came. This is a picture of Beckam and Maggie. They are so cute. The kids had a good time at the parade, then we went to Salina to the festivities there.

We didn't go to church because Kam was so sick. It was so sad. She had a fever and couldn't keep anything down. She just laid around all day. She had me in tears a couple of times. So she didn't have a fun Father's Day. She is doing much better today! Thank goodness!

Dev has been wanting to make a candy bar card, so she helped me pick out the candy, and write the card. She and Dex had fun putting the candy on. Of course after we gave it to dad for Father's Day, they kept asking if they could eat the candy. Dev asked her dad if he would make her a candy bar card for her birthday.

So, we are Dixie-ites again. We moved down to St. George in the middle of May. The kids got out of school a couple of weeks early and came back to good ol' St. George. We are liking it so far, but we do miss our friends and family up north. We are trying to do fun things for the summer and we have been really lucky that the weather has been mild so far. We have done some hiking at Red Cliffs and Zions.

Great Grandpa Leany

We went to Mt. Carmel for memorial day. We had a picnic and visited with the fam! Good times. We have 4 new babies in our family. Graeci, Maggie, Beckham, and Iyrlend. Graeci was born prematurely in October, Beckham was next in March, then Maggie and Iyrlend in April. They are all so cute and it'll be fun to see them grow up together. This was a cute photo op! We are now a family of 6!! Magdalyn Emma is our new addition! She weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 20 inches long. She is so cute! As you can see, the kids just adore her.
